Britain, France and Germany have urged Israel to allow the resumption of relief supply delivery into the Gaza Strip as food and medicine are running low there.
The foreign ministers of the three European countries issued a joint statement on Wednesday.
The statement says, "Palestinian civilians -- including one million children -- face an acute risk of starvation, epidemic disease and death" and "Israel is bound under international law to allow the unhindered passage of humanitarian aid." The ministers also called on Israel and Hamas to return to a ceasefire.
The Israeli military has been blocking humanitarian aid for Gaza for more than 50 days since March 2. It says the measure is aimed at increasing pressure on Hamas in ceasefire negotiations.
The United Nations says Gaza is now likely facing the worst humanitarian crisis since the start of the current conflict in October 2023.
Israeli attacks continue in Gaza. Local health authorities said on Wednesday that 39 people died in the past 24 hours, raising the total death toll to 51,305.
