Zelenskyy says the first Ukrainian F-16 will send signal that Russia will lose NHK

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says the supply of F-16 fighter jets from Western nations will send a strong signal to Russia that it will lose.

Zelenskyy made the remark in a video address on Wednesday as governments have offered to supply Ukraine with F-16s.

He said that "this global step" will allow Ukraine to expand its defense capabilities.

Zelenskyy said the first Ukrainian F-16 will be a strong signal from the world that Russian aggression will not succeed, and that it will become weaker and more isolated. He said Ukraine will make the necessary preparations for the F-16s, including pilot training.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba met with Azali Assoumani, the current chair of the African Union during his tour of Africa, in Ethiopia on Wednesday.

Kuleba later said that the price of bread in Africa and Asia depends on how much grain can be imported from Ukraine. He said Russia's invasion has seriously impacted food prices in all countries.

He stressed the need for Ukraine to strengthen ties with emerging and developing countries, known as the Global South, so they can recognize how important they are for each other.
