Japan defeats Czech Republic at World Baseball Classic NHK

In the World Baseball Classic, Japan delivered another stellar performance and trounced the Czech Republic 10-2 in the first round.

In Saturday's game in Tokyo, Japan's starting pitcher Sasaki Roki gave up a run in the first inning after his teammate made an error.

But, he did not allow any additional runs from the second inning on.

With Japan trailing by one in the third inning, Yoshida Masataka turned the game around with a two-run double.

Japan has notched two consecutive double-digit wins and has extended its winning streak to three games.

Japan will meet Australia in the final match-up of the first round on Sunday. With one more win, Japan can clinch the top spot in its group and advance to the quarterfinals.
