Iranian businesses are concerned that Donald Trump's return to the US presidency could lead to further economic sanctions against Iran. A trade fair currently taking place in the Iranian capital, Tehran, is aimed at strengthening economic ties with Russia. About 70 Iranian companies and roughly 40 Russian companies are participating in the event. Representatives of the Iranian firms voiced concern that Trump will strengthen economic sanctions as he took a hardline stance toward Iran during his first term in office. They expressed their willingness to expand their business with Russia to counter any such moves. The operator of an Iranian medical equipment maker says his company would definitely have serious setbacks when it comes to exporting its products. He said he hopes the governments of Iran and Russia will cooperate to solve the problems. During his first presidency, Trump unilaterally withdrew from a nuclear agreement with Iran and reinstated economic sanctions. That prompted Iran to strengthen economic ties with Russia and China.
