The Chinese military says its latest stealth fighter jet will be shown to the public for the first time at an event in southern China.

Airshow China is set to open on November 12 in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province.

The plane, known as the J-35A, is a medium-size stealth fighter with multiple roles. China's state-run television quoted experts as saying they expect a variant to be deployed on aircraft carriers.

The Chinese military already has J-20 stealth fighter jets in operation. The broadcaster reported that China will be the second country after the United States to have two types of stealth fighters in active service.

The forthcoming airshow in Zhuhai coincides with the 75th anniversary of the People's Republic's founding. Russia is also set to display its Sukhoi Su-57 stealth fighter aircraft at the airshow for the first time.

Beijing apparently wants to show its reinforced air force capabilities to the US by exhibiting its most advanced fighter jets alongside Russia's.
