US: Trilateral summit with Japan, S. Korea set for August 18 NHK

The United States says President Joe Biden will hold a summit with Japan's Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and South Korea's President Yoon Suk-yeol on August 18.

The three leaders will meet at the Camp David presidential retreat near Washington.

A statement from the White House press secretary says they will discuss ways to expand trilateral cooperation across the Indo-Pacific and beyond, and address the threat posed by North Korea's provocations.

The statement also says the summit will advance their shared vision on global and regional security challenges, the rules-based international order, and economic prosperity.
