A job fair has been held in the Indonesian capital for people who have returned after working in Japan. The governments of the two countries hope the skills they acquired in Japan will contribute to Indonesia's development. The event was held in Jakarta on Thursday. About 600 people took part, in person and online. The participants included those who worked in the construction, manufacturing and other sectors, as well as care workers and nurses employed under a bilateral economic partnership agreement. Representatives from sixteen Japanese companies and hospitals called on the participants to make use of their work skills and Japanese language ability. An Indonesian participant said, "Of course, with Japanese companies in Indonesia, I can use the skills I acquired in Japan." Sasaki Hiroki, a Japanese Embassy official, said, "In order for Indonesians to continue to play an active role in Japan, it's necessary to show that the returnees are doing well in their home country." Japan's labor ministry says more than 120,000 Indonesians were working in Japan as of the end of October. That was the sixth highest number of foreign workers in Japan by country.
