1. Yokota Sakie, mother of abductee Megumi Yokota, reiterated her resolve to rescue Megumi and other North Korean abductees on the 48th anniversary of Megumi's abduction. 2. Megumi was a 13-year-old junior high school student who was abducted by North Korea in 1977 on her way from school in Niigata City, along the Sea of Japan coast. 3. Yokota Sakie finds it unusual that the abduction issue has not been resolved for nearly half a century despite previous prime ministers identifying it as "the most important problem." She expressed hope for new Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae's determination to resolve the abduction issue.
