The prime ministers of Thailand and Cambodia have met in Phnom Penh. Both have been in office for just about one month. Srettha Thavisin and Hun Manet discussed a range of issues, including economics, trade and counter crime measures. The meeting on Thursday was Srettha's first trip to an ASEAN country as prime minister. It also marked the first time Hun Manet received a foreign leader in his nation. The prime ministers confirmed that they will increase the volume of mutual trade to 15 billion dollars by 2025. They also agreed to work together more on measures against cross-border crime, such as phone scams. Srettha and Hun Manet attended an inauguration ceremony for a rehabilitation center that will treat victims of human trafficking. Criminal gangs forced many of the victims to carry out scams. The center is located in a Cambodian border town. But Thailand provided some of the funds. Srettha became prime minister in late August. He was elected after months of political upheaval. Hun Manet succeeded his father Hun Sen. His ruling party won by a landslide in the general election in July. But the main opposition party was banned from running.
