1. The chairperson of Japan's top business lobby, Niinami Takeshi, has resigned due to being under investigation for purchasing supplements containing an illegal substance. 2. The resignation was accepted by the association's board of directors following a meeting on Tuesday, after the membership review committee had already urged him to quit. 3. Iwai Mutsuo, the Senior Vice Chairperson, will take over temporarily until a new head is chosen, as Niinami's tenure was due to expire in April 2027.
