School teachers in Japan&#039;s Gifu Prefecture are helping residents of an island in quake-hit Ishikawa Prefecture by regularly delivering food and other goods.
                
The aid is being donated by teachers and other school employees in Gujo City. Junior high students in the city visit Noto every year to experience life on an island.
                
On Sunday, the head of one of the schools in Gujo drove more than 3 hours to deliver about 50 boxes of food and other daily necessities to an inn in the eastern part of Noto Island. The fourth batch of aid was accompanied by letters from students.
                
About 20 residents were at the inn to receive the supplies. An elderly woman said she still feels anxious, but the deliveries make her happy and tearful and are a great help.
                
The school principal says they decided to do something to help people on the island where their students have unforgettable experiences every year. He says they want to continue the program to bring more smiles to residents&#039; faces.
                
The inn operator says supplies can be easily distributed in the western part of the island because a bridge connects the area with the Noto Peninsula, but this is not the case on the eastern side.
                
He says he is grateful for the support that is inspiring people to rebuild their communities.
