Temperatures in eastern Japan are forecast to fall on Tuesday to levels usually seen between mid-November and early December. It was a chilly day on Monday, especially in the eastern parts of the country, due to an influx of cold air. Daytime highs were 12.3 degrees in the city of Nagano, 15.7 in Sendai, 16.5 in Matsue, 16.8 in the city of Niigata, and 17.2 in central Tokyo. Temperatures will further drop on Tuesday, as the cold air mass moves south. Daytime highs will be 12 degrees in the city of Morioka, 14 in central Tokyo, 15 in Sendai, and 16 in Matsue. Officials are warning people to brace for a period of low temperatures.
