Israel's military is ramping up pressure on Hamas fighters, sending a convoy of tanks to the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis. Israeli attacks continued on Khan Younis, where Israel presumes Hamas's Gaza leader Yahya Sinwar is hiding, as well as other Hamas positions, including in the northern region of Jabalia. Israeli tanks were pushing into central Khan Younis. An Israeli military spokesperson posted an online message in Arabic urging residents to stay away from the city center, as fierce fighting continued. Other social media posts from the Israeli side call on Hamas fighters to surrender. Hamas showed no signs of backing down. The group said its fighters attacked Israeli tanks in and around Khan Younis, and that a number of rockets were fired toward Tel Aviv in retaliation for civilian casualties. Israeli media reported that a rocket struck a city in the vicinity of Tel Aviv, leaving one resident wounded. Health authorities in the Gaza Strip on Monday said at least 18,205 people have been killed. In the West Bank, workers staged a massive strike on Monday in protest of Israel's continued assault on Gaza. Schools and shops were shut across the region. Footage shot by an NHK cameraman shows a deserted thoroughfare in a usually busy area of Bethlehem, with all shopfronts lining the street closed. The conflict continues with no signs of a breakthrough. Israel says it expects more hostages to be released as it intensifies its military operation. But Hamas says it will neither release hostages, nor sit down for negotiations, as long as Israel's operation continues.
