Conversation: Japan may end support for major solar-power projects NHK

A: Hey! Did you hear anything new about solar power in Japan?

B: No! What’s up?

A: Apparently, the government might stop helping big solar farms soon. Like, from 2027.

B: Really? Why would they do that?

A: They’re worried about the impact on nature, I guess. Big solar farms take up a lot of space.

B: Oh, I see. So, no more new big ones?

A: Not exactly. They think solar panels are cheaper now, so they don’t need that much help.

B: That makes sense. But what about our goals for more solar energy?

A: They’re still aiming for 29% by 2040!

B: Wow, that's a lot! How are they going to do it then?

A: They’re going to focus on new, super-thin solar cells called perovskite cells. They can go on walls!

B: That’s amazing! So, still solar, just… different?

A: Exactly! And they're still helping people put solar panels on their houses, too.

Summary
Japan may end subsidies for large solar farms from 2027 due to environmental concerns & cheaper panel costs. Still aiming for 29% solar by 2040, focusing on perovskite cells & residential solar.
