Officials from Taiwan's tourism industry have come to Japan to drum up business from prospective travelers. They're reassuring people that life is back to normal outside the area hit by a powerful earthquake last week. Representatives from Taiwan joined officials from Japan at a promotional event in Tokyo on Thursday. They provided a briefing on the fallout from the quake and showed video of the damage around the Taroko Gorge, near the epicenter. But they were quick to explain that life is going on as normal at other tourist sites. Taiwanese authorities say they had just over 920,000 visitors from Japan last year. That's less than half the number that made the trip in 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic.
