Myanmar's state-run media says flooding and landslides caused by the remnants of Typhoon Yagi killed more than 220 people. Damage has been reported over a wide area, including the capital Naypyitaw. Search and rescue efforts continue for more than 70 people who are missing. The UN Office for the Coordination on Humanitarian Affairs estimates more than 600,000 people were affected by flooding across the country. Food, drinking water and temporary shelters remain in short supply. The storm has disrupted telecommunication and internet services which is hampering humanitarian operations. Myanmar has been locked in fighting between military and pro-democracy forces since the coup three years ago. Concerns are rising that the humanitarian situation in some of the affected areas may worsen.
