Finance ministers and central bank governors from the group of 20 economies kicked off a two-day meeting in Bengaluru, India, on Friday. The gathering will focus on economies affected by the Russian invasion, and soaring prices of food and energy.
The leader of the host country, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said only by creating inclusiveness will the global economic leadership win back the confidence of the world.
"I would urge that your discussions should focus on the most vulnerable citizens of the world," he said.
Attendees will discuss soaring energy and food prices, and the monetary tightening some countries are introducing to curb inflation.
Also on the agenda is rising debt among emerging economies due to inflation and interest rate hikes.
At last year's G20 gathering, the leaders released a declaration saying, "most members strongly condemned the war in Ukraine."
At this meeting, Western countries are expected to be at odds with Moscow and others over the assessment of the invasion's impact on the global economy.
