- The new training program will prepare workers to become specified skilled personnel within three years.

A: Hey Hana! Did you hear about the news about foreign workers?

B: No, Ken! What happened? Tell me!

A: The government is letting in a *lot* more foreign workers by 2029! Like, almost 1.23 million!

B: Wow! That’s a big number! What kind of jobs are they coming for?

A: Mostly skilled jobs, like in factories and food production.  They also have a new training program too.

B: Training? So they’ll learn skills here and then…become skilled workers?

A: Exactly! The idea is they train for three years and then can get a skilled worker visa.

B: That’s interesting. What about the training program? What industries are those for?

A: They’re not doing training in aviation or car transportation, but pretty much everything else!

B: So, they're saying they need this many workers because Japan doesn’t have enough people for all the jobs?

A: Yeah, it’s about making things more productive too, I think.

B:  I wonder what the Justice Minister thinks about all this!

A: He said they're going to work on improving the programs and getting ready for everything. Pretty busy time!
