In Major League Baseball, Japanese two-way player Ohtani Shohei of the Los Angeles Angels has made his first appearance at a ballpark since his elbow surgery about two weeks ago. Ohtani appeared at Angel Stadium on Saturday to receive the honor of the team's Most Valuable Player for the third season in a row. He was seen arriving at the ballpark about 80 minutes before the beginning of his team's game against the Oakland Athletics. He was wearing what appeared to be a cast on his right arm. Ohtani in his red jersey drew huge applause when he appeared on the field to attend the ceremony ahead of the game. He received the trophy with a smile and posed for pictures before leaving the field. He only used his left hand to give high-fives and wave to fans. This season Ohtani batted .304 and racked up 44 home-runs, 95 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases. As a pitcher, he notched up 10 wins. All of them were the team's most this season. He also got a 3.14 earned-run average and 167 strikeouts. Ohtani is also expected to earn the American League MVP award for the first time in two years. The league will announce the recipient in November.
