The United States has announced additional military aid worth up to 400 million dollars to support Ukraine's counteroffensive against Russia.

The package unveiled by the Pentagon on Tuesday includes additional munitions for Patriot air defense systems and NASAMS advanced surface-to-air missile systems.

Ukraine will also receive more ammunition for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS.

The United States is aiming to beef up Ukraine's air defense capabilities, to repel a barrage of Russian missile and drone attacks.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement that Russia continues to attack Ukrainian ports and grain infrastructure in Odesa in the south and other areas.

Blinken said, "The United States and our allies and partners will stand united with Ukraine, for as long as it takes."

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude in a video released on Tuesday.

Zelenskyy said the day started early, with the usual work of receiving weapons and new defense support packages, including American ones. He added, "I am grateful for today's package...Thank you, America!"
