A Japanese government-related organization that promotes trade and investment says it's office in Poland has been receiving many inquiries from Japanese companies hoping to take part in reconstruction projects in Ukraine. The Japan External Trade Organization, or JETRO, says it will send an official to take charge of Ukraine operations at its office in Warsaw from Thursday. The office will provide information to Japanese companies about reconstruction projects in Ukraine, as well as assist Ukrainian firms that want to do business in Japan. An engineering consulting firm, Nippon Koei, will open an office in Warsaw in July to analyze what reconstruction projects are needed in Ukraine. The Japan International Cooperation Agency, or JICA, has contracted the company to study the extent of damage in Ukraine due to the invasion, and draw up reconstruction plans. Nippon Koei says foreign institutions and volunteer groups involved in Ukrainian reconstruction efforts have set up offices in Poland, which has become a hub for the latest information. The company aims to put forward projects that take advantage of Japanese technologies for social infrastructure restoration.
