Toyota resumes output of 3 models from data scandal NHK

Toyota Motor has resumed production of three models after three months of suspension over a test data falsification scandal.

Assembly lines for two Corolla models and the Yaris Cross restarted at two plants in northeastern Japan, on Wednesday.

Output was suspended in June, after the transport ministry ordered the automaker to halt shipments following Toyota's admission that certification test data had been rigged.

The order was lifted late July, after the three models were confirmed to have complied with state safety standards.

Toyota had initially planned to restart production on Monday, but that was delayed due to the impact of a typhoon that lashed Japan last week.

More test data irregularities involving Toyota models came to light in July, prompting the transport ministry to issue an order for the company to improve its business practices.

Toyota submitted a report in August setting out how it will ensure there is no further wrongdoing.
