N.Korea: Cruise missile warhead and anti-aircraft missile tested on Friday NHK

North Korea says it test-launched a strategic cruise missile and a new surface-to-air missile on Friday in the Yellow Sea west of the Korean Peninsula.

The state-run Korean Central News Agency reported on Saturday that the country's Missile Administration had carried out a "power test" of a "super-large warhead" for the "Hwasal" strategic cruise missile.

It also released a photograph of a new anti-aircraft missile being fired from a mobile launcher on what appears to be a runway.

The agency said the tests were for developing technologies, including performance and operation of new type weapon systems. It said a "certain goal" was achieved.

In January and February, North Korea repeatedly fired cruise missiles that are designed to carry a tactical nuclear warhead and capable of flying at low altitudes for long periods.

Pyongyang says in its current 5-year defense plan that it will develop cruise missiles. This year is the fourth year of the plan.
