Japan and Germany have signed an agreement on the provision of supplies and services between Japan's Self-Defense Forces and the German military. The Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement, or ACSA, was signed by Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko and German Ambassador to Japan Clemens von Goetze in Tokyo on Monday. It will allow Japan's SDF and the German military to reciprocally provide each other with supplies, such as food, fuel and ammunition, during drills and in the event of a major disaster, as well as transportation and other services. At the signing ceremony, Kamikawa said the agreement will help promote security cooperation between the two countries and also actively contribute to the peace and security of the international community. The Japanese government plans to submit to the Diet a bill to seek its endorsement of the pact and other related legislation. Japan has made similar agreements with six other countries, including the United States, Australia and India.
