Wild monkeys at an open air zoo in western Japan are snuggling up to keep warm in the winter cold. About 300 monkeys roam freely at "Osaru no kuni," or "Monkey Country," on Shodoshima Island in the Seto Inland Sea. Visitors to the zoo in the town of Tonosho are fascinated by the sight of monkeys forming groups to warm themselves up. The monkeys bask in the sun during the day. But around sunset, they begin huddling together. Some of them hug their babies tightly to their chests. When temperatures start to plunge, more monkeys get together in groups of about 50 to keep everyone warm. A tourist told NHK that it's very interesting as the monkeys look like people trying to keep warm. Officials at the zoo say the popular winter attraction can be viewed until around March.
