The organizer of the 2025 World Exposition in Osaka has pushed back the construction deadline for pavilions from mid-July to mid-October this year. About 50 countries have opted to build their own pavilions. But their plans have largely been upended by soaring material costs, a shortage of labor, and difficult negotiations with construction companies. Only 36 of those countries have secured a contractor. And construction is actually underway for just five pavilions. The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition says the interiors of the pavilions should be completed by the middle of January 2025, and all preparatory work including setting up the exhibits should be done by the end of February that year. The expo is scheduled to open the following April. The organizer is offering to assemble prefabricated pavilions to help speed up the preparations.
