China, Germany agree to strengthen economic ties NHK

China and Germany have agreed to strengthen economic cooperation in a high-level financial dialogue held Sunday in Frankfurt.

The talk was co-chaired by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and Germany's Finance Minister Christian Lindner.

China's state-run Xinhua News Agency quoted He as saying that China is ready to work with Germany to deepen mutually beneficial, and win-win cooperation, to inject more positive energy into the two countries' partnership.

Lindner showed Germany's willingness to increase talks with China in the framework of the high-level financial dialogue.

A joint statement published by China says both countries are committed to enhancing strong and sustainable growth of the global economy.

China faces a slow economic recovery as the country's real estate slump is dragging on. Beijing apparently aims to attract investment and bolster its economy through strengthened cooperation with Berlin.

In July, the German government published its strategy on China, signaling a shift from its reliance on China in critical minerals and others.

Berlin apparently seeks to maintain necessary economic ties with China.
