The Japanese government is set to launch a national research institute next Wednesday to study the safety of generative AI. They aim to address risks of AI spreading false information and infringing on copyrights. Science and Technology Policy Minister Takaichi Sanae met with Murakami on Thursday. The minister asked her to conduct research on AI in coordination with other countries. Murakami replied that she hopes to help Japan's economy grow by ensuring that AI technologies are safe.
