A driver in Japan is trapped inside a massive sinkhole that risks collapsing, authorities report.
Emergency services rushed to the scene around 9:50 a.m. in Yashio City, Saitama, near Tokyo, Tuesday after the road caved, causing the car to fall into the hole.
Authorities struggled for several hours to pull the driver to safety. The rescue operation is still ongoing.

According to the fire department, the sinkhole is a massive 33 feet wide, equivalent to a swimming pool, and 20 feet deep, which is creating difficulties in the rescue operation.
"We have been carrying out a rescue operation ever since," a fire department spokesperson told AFP.
"Now, we're trying to see if we can pull up the truck using a large crane.
He warned, "There is risk that the hole will collapse."
The driver got in contact at around 1 p.m. with rescue authorities, who had to evacuate after the hole became unstable.

Two rescue officers suffered minor injuries while attempting to pull the driver out of the sinkhole.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the road collapse and note that a sewer system runs through the intersection, Kyodo News reported.
