Russia's presidential office said Saturday that President Vladimir Putin visited the frontline command headquarters for the country's invasion of Ukraine in the southern border region of Rostov.
The Kremlin said Putin heard reports from Valery Gerasimov, the chief of the General Staff, in Rostov-on-Don.
Footage released by state-run media shows Putin getting out of a car and attending a meeting in a building that appears to be the command headquarters.
He is believed to have received reports on the situation in the frontlines and future plans.
Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to suffer from Russia's military attacks.
Officials in the southern Kherson region say one person was killed and another was injured in Russia's shelling on Friday.
The governor of the eastern Donetsk region said five people had been injured in Russia's attacks on Saturday, while the authorities in the western Khmelnytskyi region said at least two people had been injured in bomb blasts.
Britain's defense ministry said Saturday that Ukrainian forces had continued their advances along a river in the western part of the Donetsk region and liberated the village of Urozhaine, but that "most of the front line remained static."
It says, "Across the front, both sides confront a similar challenge: attempting to defeat well-entrenched forces while having limited uncommitted forces to open new assaults."
