Blinken to make another trip to Israel and regional neighbors NHK

The US State Department says Secretary of State Antony Blinken will make another trip to Israel and neighboring countries to exchange views on the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters on Tuesday that Blinken will travel to Israel on Friday to meet with government officials, and then will visit other nations in the region.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza is worsening as fighting intensifies between Israel and Hamas. Israeli troops have been expanding ground operations in the northern part of the enclave.

Pressing issues include the delivery of aid supplies such as food and drinking water, and evacuating residents.

In October, Blinken visited Israel, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar and other countries in the region.

During this upcoming Middle East visit, Blinken is expected to exchange opinions on a humanitarian pause to allow the delivery of aid into Gaza, and the rescue of hostages held by Hamas.
