People in Indonesia&#039;s Aceh Province have welcomed students from northern Japan to share their experiences dealing with earthquakes and tsunamis. Both regions have suffered from massive disasters in recent history.
                
Four Japanese high-school students visited the provincial capital of Banda Aceh. They attended a gathering at a local school on Thursday.
                
The school was restored with Japan&#039;s aid after the Indian Ocean tsunami struck in December 2004, leaving over 160,000 people dead in the province.
                
The Japanese students came from the town of Otsuchi in northeastern Iwate Prefecture, which was one of the hardest-hit areas in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami.
                
During interactions with Indonesian students, they introduced skills they&#039;ve learned in a variety of drills, such as evacuating from disasters and operating make-shift camps.
                
Local students also enjoyed learning disaster-prevention measures through quiz games.
                
One of the Japanese students said, &quot;I hope this type of event will continue to take place so that we can share our experiences and pass them to future generations.&quot;
                
The Japan International Cooperation Agency and a civil group plan to invite teachers and other officials in Banda Aceh to Iwate Prefecture next year so they can learn ways of teaching disaster-prevention measures in schools.
