Death toll from torrential rain in Japan's Ishikawa Prefecture rises to 11 NHK

At least 11 people have died after the heavy downpours in Ishikawa Prefecture on the Sea of Japan coast.

The torrential rain hit the prefecture's Wajima City and surrounding areas over the weekend, causing overflown rivers and landslides. Rescue teams have been combing through the areas.

The body of a woman was found near a river in Wajima on Wednesday morning. Two men were separately found dead on the city's coast in the afternoon.

Nine people have been confirmed dead in Wajima and two have died in Suzu City.

The prefecture says two people are missing and others are unaccounted for. It says 12 people have been injured.
