Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 9,628 new cases of the coronavirus in Tokyo on Tuesday, down 12,435 from a week ago. The daily tally has marked a week-on-week decline for seven straight days. The ministry also reported 24 deaths in the capital. The number of seriously ill patients on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines was 45, as same as Monday. Nationwide, 89,643 new infections and 223 deaths were confirmed on Tuesday.
