1. On October 27th and 28th, in celebration of U.S. President Donald Trump's official visit to Japan, Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (Tocho) were illuminated with colors matching the Star-Spangled Banner.
2. This is not the first time these buildings have changed their lighting in response to foreign leaders; for example, Tokyo Tower was also lit up in red, white, and blue when then-president Barack Obama visited Japan in 2014.
3. The illuminations will be repeated on Tuesday, but after Trump's departure on Wednesday, Tokyo Tower will return to its standard orange-and-white color scheme, while the Skytree will start its Moonlight Halloween/Smile Pumpkin pattern.
