Court backs agency in dispute with K-pop stars NewJeans NHK

A South Korean court has granted an injunction to bar popular K-pop group NewJeans from acting independently of the management agency ADOR.

The Seoul Central District Court delivered the decision on Friday.

The girl group said in November they would terminate their exclusive contract with ADOR after their producer was removed from the post of CEO at the agency. Last month, the group renamed itself NJZ and began engaging in independent projects.

ADOR launched a lawsuit, claiming the exclusive contract is still valid. It also filed for the injunction to bar the group from independent activities under the new name.

The group members plan to file an objection against the injunction.

The latest development will affect show business activity by the globally popular band.
