Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 956 new coronavirus cases in Tokyo on Sunday. The daily tally is up 167 from a week ago, marking the ninth consecutive day of week-on-week increase. The number of seriously ill patients who are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines is two, down one from Saturday. One death related to the coronavirus was reported in the capital. Nationwide, 7,079 new cases and 15 deaths were confirmed.
