The Dalai Lama has met with leading American activist Martin Luther King III. He's the son of iconic civil rights campaigner and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Martin Luther King Jr. The Dalai Lama is a Nobel Peace Prize laureate himself. The meeting took place on Monday in Dharamshala, India. King also brought his family. His daughter Yolanda Renee King asked the Dalai Lama, "What message do you have for kids like me and how we can continue to promote a world of peace where we are all the same?" The Dalai Lama responded by saying that so many problems are our own creations based on religion, race and history. He said we must now start thinking simply as human beings. After the meeting, Martin Luther King III said: "Just amazing to be with him again. My wife and I and our daughter had the opportunity to be with His Holiness in the States at Syracuse University at his 75th birthday in Washington D.C., and so this is beyond refreshing, and inspiring, uplifting." Both the Dalai Lama and Martin Luther King Jr. made non-violence a pillar of their activities. In 1963, the American famously said, "I have a dream." The Tibetan spiritual leader has said he dreams we humans can become a happy family before the century is up.
