Russia conducts drone attacks in three southern regions, Ukraine says NHK

Ukraine says Russia has conducted large-scale drone attacks in three southern regions, damaging infrastructure for transporting goods in Odesa.

The Ukrainian Air Force said on Tuesday it had shot down 27 of the 36 Iranian-made drones Russia launched in overnight attacks in the Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

Authorities in Odesa said the drone attacks continued for three hours. They said no injuries were reported, but logistics infrastructure was damaged.

The Ukrainian Air Force said on Sunday Russia had launched more than 500 drone attacks last month, and is likely to use record numbers of drones in attacks in autumn and winter.

In Russia, the chairperson of the lower house of parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin, said on Monday that he told the house's international affairs committee to complete by October 18 discussion on whether or not to revoke the ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.

In an apparent warning to the West that continues military aid to Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin hinted last week Russia could withdraw from the treaty to resume nuclear tests.
