A Japanese Self-Defense Forces' aircraft has landed in Tokyo carrying 46 evacuees from Israel. The passengers who arrived at Haneda Airport on Friday evening include 20 Japanese nationals, South Koreans and Vietnamese nationals. This is the second airlift by SDF aircraft since fighting broke out between Israel and Hamas. The Japanese government decided to operate the additional flight due to rising tensions in the region, and uncertainties over the availability of direct commercial flights. The Foreign Ministry says about 800 Japanese citizens remain in Israel and Palestinian territories. The Defense Ministry plans to keep two SDF transport aircraft on standby in Jordan and Greece.
