Israeli forces have conducted airstrikes on the Yemeni capital Sanaa in retaliation for missiles fired towards Israel by Houthi rebels in Yemen. The bombings have reportedly killed six people and injured more than 80.



The Israeli military said on Sunday that it struck targets including power plants and a fuel storage site. The Houthis effectively control the Yemeni capital.



Reuters news agency carried video images from social media showing flames spreading and black smoke rising in a densely packed area.



The agency reported that at least six people died and 86 others were injured.



This is the latest in the exchange of attacks between Israel and the Houthi militants. The Houthis have pledged solidarity with the Palestinian group Hamas, which is fighting Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip. The Houthis continue to launch missiles toward Israel and have repeatedly attacked ships linked to the country in the Red Sea.
