A: Hey Hana-chan! Did you hear anything crazy in the news today?

B: Ohayo, David-san! Not really. What's up?

A: Well, apparently Trump is thinking about letting a really important treaty with Russia end.

B: Seriously? What treaty is that?

A: It’s called New START. It's about nuclear weapons. Basically, it limits how many each country can have.

B: Wow, that sounds serious! Why would he do that?

A: He says it’s because he wants a “better agreement.” He wants China to be part of it too!

B: China? That’s a big change. So, the US and Russia are the only ones involved now?

A: Exactly. This treaty is all we have left to control their weapons. Remember when Putin suggested extending it last year?

B: Yeah, I think I remember Trump saying it sounded good then! Now he's changing his mind?

A: Yep! It looks like things are a bit tricky again, like they were before they agreed to extend it in 2021.

B: Crazy! Let’s hope they figure something out. Nuclear stuff is scary.
