Japan's Emperor and Empress meet Jordan's King, Queen and Crown Prince NHK

Japan's Emperor and Empress welcomed Jordan's King, Queen and Crown Prince at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Tuesday.

The Imperial Household Agency said Emperor Naruhito expressed respect for Jordan for accepting many Syrian refugees and its other humanitarian aid efforts.

King Abdullah responded that Syrian, Palestinian and other refugees make up about 25 percent of his country's population. He praised Japan's support and cooperation for peace in the Middle East.

The Emperor and Empress congratulated Crown Prince Hussein on his upcoming wedding.

Officials say the meeting lasted about 25 minutes and was held without interpreters in a friendly atmosphere.
