An Israeli military spokesperson has indicated that the country&#039;s forces are prepared to launch large-scale operations, including a ground offensive, in the Gaza Strip.
                
The spokesperson said on Sunday that the military is intensifying attacks on Gaza to minimize danger to its forces in &quot;the next stages of war.&quot;
                
He also said Israel will go to the next phase under the best conditions for its military &quot;in accordance with the decision of the political level.&quot;
                
Israeli forces are carrying out airstrikes targeting high-rises and tunnels they say are used by the Islamic group Hamas. Local media report that at least 50 people died between Saturday night and Sunday.
                
The military has deployed tanks around Gaza, and announced that it killed two members of Hamas near fences along the boundary between Israel and Gaza.
                
The military also announced that it carried out an airstrike on a mosque in the West Bank on Sunday, saying it obtained intelligence that the mosque was being used by militants planning a terrorist attack.
                
This is believed to be the first airstrike since 2006 on the West Bank, where the Palestinian Authority is based. The area is more than 120 kilometers from Hamas-controlled Gaza.
                
Israel is apparently wary of possible attacks from behind, as it focuses on Gaza.
                
Meanwhile, the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt opened on Saturday. An aid convoy of 20 trucks entered the blockaded territory.
                
But the United Nations says the aid is not enough for the more than 1.6 million people in need of assistance.
                
Since the clashes between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, at least 1,400 people have died in Israel. More than 200 people, including foreigners, have been taken hostage.
                
In Gaza, the death toll has reached at least 4,385.
