Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi Yoshimasa has stressed Japan's commitment to humanitarian support for the Gaza Strip following US President Donald Trump's remark on Gaza. Hayashi affirmed in a news conference on Wednesday that the Japanese government is aware of the remark Trump made at a meeting on the previous day with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Hayashi said Japan is seriously concerned about the continuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He said Japan will call on relevant parties to work to improve the humanitarian situation and calm down tensions through steady implementation of the ceasefire agreement. He said Japan is determined to play an active role in providing urgent humanitarian assistance, and also medium- to long-term restoration and reconstruction support, in cooperation with relevant countries and organizations.
