A US Federal Reserve governor has filed a lawsuit over President Donald Trump&#039;s attempt to dismiss her.
        
                    
                  
Trump posted a letter to Lisa Cook on his social media platform on Monday. It says she may have made false statements on one or more mortgage agreements, and that the president is firing her with immediate effect.

The White House responded to a request for comment from NHK, saying, &quot;The President determined there was cause to remove a governor who was credibly accused of lying in financial documents.&quot;
        
                    
                  
It added that a governor&#039;s removal &quot;for cause&quot; improves the Federal Reserve Board&#039;s accountability and credibility &quot;for both the markets and the American people.&quot;
