Huge fire rips through Bangladeshi market NHK

Hundreds of firefighters in Bangladesh have extinguished a massive blaze at a sprawling market in the capital. Reports say there are no deaths. But many shop owners have had their livelihoods reduced to ashes.

The fire broke out on Tuesday morning in Dhaka's famous Bangabazar. It quickly spread to other nearby markets.

The area is known for fabrics. Most traders are fully stocked ahead of the Islamic festival later this month. The blaze destroyed more than 3,000 shops.
