Cambodia's longest-serving prime minister has moved on to another key role in the country's power structure. After his election, Hun Sen vowed to fulfil his duties to the nation and its people. He served as prime minister between 1985 and 2023. His ruling Cambodian People's Party's won an overwhelming victory in last year's general election. He then handed power to his son, Hun Manet, who is now prime minister. The election was criticized by Western nations, as opposition parties were barred from running. In February, Hun Manet's younger brother was appointed deputy prime minister, ensuring key government posts are held by members of Hun Sen's family.
