Medical treatment at camps in Thailand for displaced people from Myanmar is being affected by US President Donald Trump's order to pause foreign aid programs. Trump signed an executive order to halt foreign aid programs for 90 days to allow for a reevaluation. The order prompted the State Department and its affiliate, the US Agency for International Development, or USAID, to suspend foreign aid temporarily, with some exceptions. Thai media say a medical institution supported by USAID has been closed in a camp in northwestern Thailand bordering Myanmar. Nearby hospitals are now taking care of the injured. The United Nations says about 29,000 people live in the camp. A Japanese doctor says groups linked to her hospital have been carrying out emergency transfers of people who were injured in the domestic conflict in Myanmar. She says the transfers have stopped as the program was largely funded by USAID. She says it is a matter of life or death as many people cannot survive without aid.
