A winery in quake-hit Ishikawa Prefecture, central Japan, has resumed retail sales at its shop following a four-month suspension due to damage from the New Year's Day disaster.

The winery in Anamizu Town produces and sells wine made with locally harvested grapes.

Following the massive earthquake that hit the Noto Peninsula, about 10,000 liters of wine leaked from parts of the firm's storage and barrels. The quake also caused damage to the ceiling and walls of the shop.

On April 30, the firm reopened the shop after the completion of repair work. The shop is now selling wine bottled after the quake, as well as products not affected by the disaster.

Customers were buying products after hearing explanations from salespeople and tasting wines.

A tourist from Kagoshima Prefecture said she was surprised to find the shop open and she hopes to support the quake-hit area by drinking wine.

Notowine President Murayama Takashi said his firm could resume sales earlier than expected thanks to cooperation from many people. He expressed his hope to continue producing wine in Noto.

The shop opens only on weekdays for the time being, but its products are also being sold online.
